When it comes to knowing what we want from international acts , Zimbambweans are most definitely the toughest crowd , with artists like Beenie Man being judged as below average live performance wise. Emtee being still a rookie artist a lot was put on his shoulders , but the young South African MC rose above all the criticism and gave his Shoko fans a performance to remember.
Local acts like Cal_Vin also showed their worth , but it was the comics that took the night away ,with Zambezi News crew leaving fans wanting more.
As much as artists like Cal_Vin and Emtee gave their all, sadly this wasn’t enough to pull in crowds as the turnout was low. This might have been a result of the hefty $10 price tag per head at the gates or not having Zimbabwe Hip-hop heavyweights on opening night like Takura or Stunner. Two Kings Entertainment having their star filled event in Kadoma the same night , did not do any favors for Shoko Festival with acts like Mafikizolo and Jah Prayzah contributing to the low turnout at Shoko. With all that said Shoko Festival was still a success with present fans wishing it could last longer.
