The Embassy of India in Zimbabwe will hold the International Day of Yoga festival in different provinces of the country in June.The festival will see participants engaging in different forms of body postures to create unity of the mind and the body for healthy living.
Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ransui Masakui said with the current trend of lifestyles, Yoga is relevant in the prevention of and management of stress induced and other lifestyle related disorders.Ambassador Masakui said a number of activities have been lined up from the 10th to the 24th of June for the festival.
The draft resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India at the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly and endorsed by 175 member states.
Yoga is belived to have originated from India, the word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to join” or “to yoke”. Yoga is a practical aid, not a religion. It is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment.
The practice of yoga makes the body strong and flexible, it also improves the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems. Yoga brings about emotional stability and clarity of mind.
