In the sporting world many have had one or two moments of brilliance , but consistency is key , with Khama being just that for Mamalodi Sundowns Football Club. The Zimbabwean born winger scored an early goal to give the Brazilians the lead 2 minutes into the game against rivals Platinum Stars.
Platinum Stars got off to the worst possible start by conceding a goal in the second minute of the game. Hlompo Kekana’s long pass was beautifully controlled by Khama Billiat before brilliantly placing the ball past the keeper to give Mamelodi Sundowns a 1-0 lead. Khama Billiat was at the end of a good Sundowns move and the crossed the ball for Sibusiso Vilakazi whose shot went over the bar from close range.
Billiat found space again in the Platinum Stars box before beating a man and firing his shot away which was well saved by Mbongeni Mzimela. The half ended 1-0 with Sundowns taking a comfortable lead.
Tebogo Langerman who was having a quiet day at the back made his way forward while providing an attacking option to his team. The fullback got into some space and fired a shot on target from range but Mzimela was on hand to make the save.
Hlompo Kekana delivered one of his trademark long range strikes from a free kick but his powerful effort was met by the fists of Mzimela who was kept quite busy in the game.
A Sundowns corner was cleared off the line by Robert Ng’ambi in what was a goal-bound effort. The Brazilians managed to hold on and claim a 1-0 victory on their return to Absa Premiership
