Wizkid Makes History: Equals Burna Boy’s Billboard 200 Record

WIZKID ON THE WAY TO THE TOP

Wizkid has etched his name further into music history by equaling Burna Boy’s record for the most charting albums by a Nigerian artist on the Billboard 200 chart.

Wizkid’s latest album, “More Love, Less Ego,” debuted at number 98 on the chart, selling 13,000 units in its first week. This achievement brings his total number of charting albums to four, tying him with Burna Boy.

“Wizkid ties Burna Boy as the Nigerian artist with the most charting albums in Billboard 200 history (4 each),” music monitoring platform Chart Data announced on X.

Beyond the Billboard 200, “More Love, Less Ego” also made waves on the Billboard World Albums chart, debuting at number four.

With Davido’s fifth studio album, “5IVE,” slated for release next year, he has the potential to join Wizkid and Burna Boy in this exclusive club. Davido has already charted three albums on the Billboard 200.

It comes as no surprise as Wizkid has been in the music industry for a while, as his music is a blend of Afrobeats , Rnb and Afropop. The singer hit his US Top 100 when he collaborated with Drake on One Dance in 2016. His song Essence with Tems was the first Nigerian song to Billboards Global charts on the top 100.

As Nigerian music continues to dominate the global stage, Wizkid’s latest achievement solidifies his status as one of Africa’s most influential artists.
